Bike sharing at penn state!
Hey guys. So im working on this research report for my eng 202c class about, you guessed it, installing a bike sharing system here at penn state. The numbers are still fresh and roughly estimated, but i just calculated that if 23% of penn state students sign up for a $50 a year plan to use bikes around campus with their psu id card, the program would make more than $650,000 a year in revenue. The 23% came from the amount of people in paris france who use a similar program relative to paris's population. This includes everyone from children to the elderly. I hope that this percentage will be more here at a university and i am very excited about the liklyhood of this project being successful. Even though this class is almost over, if anyone is interested i will keep you in the loop about whats going on, and if i can get this idea off the ground.

to all you jersey haters out there
Today while i was getting food, i overheard two guys talking about new jersey and how supposedly everyone over there sucks and doesn't know how to drive. Where did all this hatred come from for the best state in the country? Seriously...cant we all just get along and admit that Jersey is and always will kick some ass. If not....well then i feel sorry for you. lata!

New pen idea
well today i bought this pen at cvs that has a laser pointer and a led light in the back. And then i tried to think of a cool new pen idea and boom! What do you guys think of a pen that has some type of white out thing in the back end. It can be equipped with one of those little brushes for easy use. I figure that there might still be some people out there who still use white out, and there are plenty of others who would consider buying it if it was attached to a pen. Any other ideas or comments are always appreciated :)

Grad School
Hey guys. My junior year here at penn state is coming to an end pretty soon, and im still not quite sure what i want to do when i get out of here. My goal would be to go to grad school but i dont have much money to pay for it. I've heard from one of my teachers that certain schools will pay most if not all of the costs for going there if you are going for engineering. I was wondering if anyone knew any information about this and if they know of any schools that pay students full stipens for going there. Thanks

How bad is coffee for you?
I was just curious if anybody knew the affects of caffeine on the human body. I think i know most of the short term affects like faster heart rate but i start shaking a little bit after i drink some coffee (i dont drink much) and was hoping it wasnt the end of the world. Any comments would be appreciated.

Is recycling really good for the environment?
One of my buddies just showed me this show recently called "Bullshit" on showtime. They did an episode were they looked at recycling and what it was really doing for the environment and for our pockets. From the information they were giving, it would seem that recycling is not only economically inefficient, it is not really helping the planet in any significant way. If anyone has any relevant information I would love to hear it, thanks!

Earth Hour!
Just a heads up to all you earth friendly people out there, Earth Hour is March 28 at 8:30 PM here on the eastern coast. This is an hour were everyone across the globe will be shutting of their lights, electricity, and pretty much anything with power that we don't essentially need for that one hour. I hope everybody who knows about earth hour will contribute to it as well. Thanks!

Another idea
Hey everyone. I was playing with my water bottle the other day, and i unknowingly was making an indentation in the top of the bottle with my thumb. I realized that i do this by the way i hold the bottle (letting it more hang from my thumb and middle finger than actually hold it. Then i thought "hey, putting a dent or groove in the bottle to begin with might be a good idea" . So ya, and constructive criticism or any form of criticism for that matter is greatly appreciated.

A Good Idea?
Alright guys so I've been thinking about some ideas for new stuff and these are the two that really stood out. First is an idea for a foldable chair with another piece attached for a desk. Im not talking about full blown desk like the ones we used in elementary school. I'm talking about a desk like the ones we unfold at the forum. Just a small little space that you can unfold for something to write/do whatever on.
The second idea came to me when it was really cold outside. My cellphone was in my jacket pocket and i was holding onto it like it was producing heat on its own. Then i realized that the heat from my hands might be used more efficiently when im holding onto a heat conductive material like a mettal phone. So why not make a product that not only uses your own body heat for you as a hand warmer, but can also be battery powered to produce extra heat whenever you want.
Well hey if anyone is cool enough to read my blogs please leave comments about what you think :)

blink
I normally don't recomend books but this one is a real good one. Its called blink by Malcom Gladwell. It's about the way we think about things. The author talks about how our first reaction (instinct) is very accurate. He uses studys and facts to back up his topics and you cant help but keep turning the page. You can find it on the bestseller shelves as it rightly should be. Find this book, read it, and enjoy :-)
